IMAGINE ROWS OF OAKS ALONG A BEAUTIFUL BOULEVARD

Why do we need trees? They’re vital! They provide oxygen, improve air quality, store carbon, stabilize the soil and create a habitat for wildlife. Trees also contribute to their environment by conserving water, improving the climate and adding beauty.

One of the greatest benefits is that trees give neighborhoods identity. The Claiborne Corridor lost its identity as a vibrant and uniquely beautiful place when its broad tree canopy was bulldozed for the construction of I-10. Removal of the elevated highway would provide the space for a robust tree canopy that works to restore the health, beauty and identity of Treme and the 7th Ward.
